Your Digital Heritage

l8er is a secure digital vault with time-delayed unlocking. You can leave behind confidential information that can be retrieved once needed. Still you stay in full control as long as possible: You can decline access requests or destroy the secret at any time.

Why?

You have a lot of digital secrets you need to share with partners, heirs, or relatives in case you can no longer use them yourself. You still want full control so they cannot be used too early or stolen from your desk or drawer. And you want to formally comply with regulations on not disclosing sensitive information.

Example secret information

  • Email login / password
  • Phone PIN
  • Banking login
  • Bitwarden password safe location and login
  • Crypto wallet password or recovery phrase
  • Physical safety box PIN code
  • Spare key location
  • Open full checklist

How does l8er work?

l8er stands for l-eight-er - later! You encrypt your secret information in the browser. Only the decryption key is stored securely on our server in custody. The encrypted information is shared via URL or as a QR printout and never leaves your network. The recipient can, when needed, request release of the secret. You are notified and have a grace period to decline the release — otherwise the decryption key is given to the recipient so they can decrypt the previously shared secret.

Why this is good

The encrypted data is not stored on the server; you can keep the paper printout where the recipient will find it if needed. You keep full control and prevent information theft or premature decryption.

What if I have more data to encrypt?

Create an encrypted ZIP file on a USB stick, encrypt the ZIP password itself with l8er and store the URL on the stick in a readme.txt file. Hint: If you also keep the ZIP password in your personal password safe, you can even update the ZIP over time!

Cost

Basic tier is free (until capacity limit). Premium features coming soon: Regular check emails to confirm reachability or remind you to update secret information (e.g. changed passwords), configurable grace period length and SMS notifications.
